Garden Grant

Growing Gardens in Your Community

The application period for the 2016-2017 Garden Grant is now closed.

Food Bank of Central New York strives to engage partner agencies and community members in educational opportunities and projects encouraging community food security.

Members of the Food Bank who do not have an edible garden or would like to expand a current garden have the opportunity to receive a garden grant award. Each award includes $250 worth of reimbursement for supplies to install a garden or enhance an existing one, including raised beds, cedar barrels (container gardens), plants, soil, and seeds. Award recipients are responsible for establishing and maintaining the garden.

Grants will be awarded to partner agencies on a first come, first serve system. It is a rolling application process which means there is no deadline to apply. Agencies will have to meet the criteria outlined in the application and provide all the information to receive the award. Applications are accepted year-round allowing for spring, summer, and fall garden installations, and for food to be planted and grown throughout multiple seasons.
