Grants & Opportunities
This portion of the website lists the grants and opportunities made available by Food Bank of Central New York for our partner agencies. The Food Bank is dedicated to providing our partner agencies with a wide range of resources including grants, food safety trainings, workshops teaching healthy behaviors, and food demonstrations.
Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. Submission of an application does not guarantee your funding request will be granted. Specific instructions are detailed in the grant guidelines.
The Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) funded through New York State Department of Health is dedicated to improving the health and nutritional status of people in need of food assistance. The program provides funding and other support to organizations that serve the hungry to enhance the accessibility and availability of safe and nutritious food and food related resources. HPNAP grant funds are designed to supplement an organization’s current operating funds; funds may not be used as start-up costs for new activities or should not be the only source of support for an organization. Please note the following changes to the 2018–2019 HPNAP award.
The New York State Department of Health has issued a HPNAP contract year extension for the 2018–2019 HPNAP awards, extending the current HPNAP award period until June 30, 2020. To accommodate this extension, Food Bank of Central New York has been directed by the New York State Department of Health to issue HPNAP funding based on grant applications submitted in September 2018.
2018 - 2019 HPNAP Food Grant Award
- HPNAP extension award notifications and agreements will be issued in September 2019. Awards will be based on the September 2018 application and 2018-2019 award. Extension funds will be prorated for use during the time period of November 1, 2019 – May 31, 2020.
- Partner agencies that became HPNAP eligible during the 2018-2019 fiscal year will have an opportunity to submit applications for a food award. Complete instructions will be emailed to the email address on file in early September.
2018 - 2019 HPNAP Operations Support Award Recipients
- Partner agencies that were issued a 2018-2019 Operation Support award will be considered for prorated funding for the extension period of November 1, 2019 –
May 31, 2020. All extension funds must be expended by May 31, 2020.
Once the extension is complete, HPNAP funds will be aligned with the Food Bank’s fiscal year of July-June. We appreciate your patience as the HPNAP contract year is adjusted by the New York State Department of Health.
