Karen Belcher, CPA, Named Executive Director at Food Bank of Central New York

119977133 10158489071967159 5961624538894330173 oSYRACUSE, NY (9/21/2020) - On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Karen Belcher, CPA, accepted the position to be the next Executive Director at Food Bank of Central New York. After reviewing dozens of applications, the Food Bank of Central New York Executive Director Search Committee concluded that Ms. Belcher was the top candidate for the position.

Ms. Belcher began her career at the Food Bank in 2001 as the Controller, overseeing Finance, IT, and HR functions. During her 19-year career at the Food Bank, Ms. Belcher worked as the Director of Finance, Chief Operating Officer, and for the past nine months, Interim Executive Director. Ms. Belcher’s role will task her with the oversight and management of all Food Bank activities including warehousing, distribution, agency relations, food sourcing, nutrition, outreach, technology, and development.

“Karen’s hard work and exceptional performance, especially during these past nine months, have made a difference at the Food Bank and in the community,” Mark Ciaralli, Food Bank of Central New York Board President, stated. “She has facilitated open lines of communication and provided great leadership during this global pandemic. The Board is thrilled to be able to work with her and the entire team to continue to support the Food Bank’s endeavors.”

“I am excited to have been offered the role of Executive Director for the Food Bank of Central New York,” Karen Belcher said. “I am deeply committed to serving others and continuing our mission of ending food insecurity in the communities we serve. For the past 19 years, I have helped to provide opportunities to grow programs and develop new ideas and processes.
