Food Bank of Central New York is involved in several events throughout the year. There are many ways to get involved whether through sponsorship, purchasing tickets or volunteering.
September is Hunger Action Month
Our Give a Little, Feed a Lot program is a simple way for you and your employees to help your neighbors in need. Food Bank of Central New York will supply you with brown lunch bags and information on the program. We ask that you distribute this information to your employees and co-workers to brown bag their lunch and donate what they would typically spend on lunch for a day (or a week) to help feed the hungry in our community.
On Thursday, September 5, we encourage everyone in the community to Wear Orange to help raise awareness about the issues surrounding hunger. You can also use this as an opportunity to raise funds for the Food Bank. Business, schools, churches and groups can encourage a $1 donation to wear orange.

Check Out Hunger
Check Out Hunger, one of the most important fundraisers for the Food Bank, features pin-ups at the register that can be scanned and added to a shopper's check-out total. There are three giving levels, $1, $3, and $5; and all funds collected will support the Food Bank of Central New York. Because of the large scale of the Food Bank's operations more than 11 million pounds of food are distributed annually to 476 local charitable programs. For every $5 donated, more than 11 meals are provided to families and individuals in need. In November, you can donate to the Check Out Hunger program at your local Price Chopper Stores. In January and February, doante at your local Wegmans, Tops Friendly Markets and Wilson Farms Stores.
