Food Bank of Central New York makes a special effort to enable our partner agency coordinators and volunteers to guide clients towards better utilization of nutritious pantry foods and self-determination in the home kitchen.
Our in-house chef, Peter Ricardo, leads quarterly food demonstrations using common pantry and house hold items, providing basic knowledge and tools used to navigate the kitchen.
These food demonstrations encourage coordinators to take full advantage of our inventory and food donation opportunities while simultaneously carrying on the message of economic and healthy food management to those visiting their pantries.
Demonstrations are free and generally last up to two hours. Each session covers a different topic and details multiple recipes including samples and/or cooking techniques.
