Oneida Ltd. "Spoonful for Hunger" Raises $7,417 for the Food Bank

SYRACUSE, NY (January 6, 2012) – Oneida Company Store in Sherrill, NY will be the location of a $7,417.00 check presentation by Oneida Ltd. to the Food Bank of Central New York on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2 p.m.  The funds are the result of “Spoonful for Hunger”, the promotion to help fight hunger in Upstate New York. The promotion ran from September 14 through December 28, 2011 at the Oneida Company Store at 606 Sherrill Road, in Sherrill.

 

During each Wednesday of the promotion, shoppers received a 10% discount on purchases made at the Oneida Company Store and Oneida Ltd. donated 10% of sale proceeds to the Food Bank of CNY.  Shoppers were also encouraged to add an extra $2, $3 or $5 to their bill, with 100% of those donations going to the Food Bank. 

 

“We thank Oneida Ltd. and the customers of Oneida Company Store for their support and generosity. Each donation received by the  Food Bank helps us to provide food and services to people in need within the 11 counties that we serve, including Oneida County”, said Thomas Slater, the Food Bank’s executive director, who will be on hand to accept the check. 

 

Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education, and advocacy in cooperation with the community.  Food Bank serves as the primary food supplier for 273 emergency food assistance programs in 11 counties of New York State, distributing 11,550,177 pounds of food last fiscal year.
