SYRACUSE, NY (2/17/2012) – King Ferry Winery owner Peter Saltonstall was at Food Bank of Central New York on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 to present a check for $4,405. The winery generated the donation directly from tasting fees, with $1 from each $3 fee going to the charity. Mr. Saltonstall, impressed by his customers’ support for the idea, said “The response by the public was phenomenal. While the economy recovers it is important to remember that there are many people in great need of the basics that many of us take for granted. We hope to continue this program and have some interesting plans for our future participation that we will share with our customers soon. We have found our partnership with the Food Bank to be incredibly rewarding, and we would like to challenge the other Finger Lakes wineries to support this organization.”
Kathleen Stress, Chief Operations Officer for the Food Bank, was on hand to receive the check, as was Director of Special Nutrition Projects Peter Ricardo. “This generous donation from Mr. Saltonstall and all of King Ferry Winery will help us to continue to provide food to families and individuals in need throughout the community. We are grateful to have such a community partner,” stated Ms. Stress.
