Growing Gardens in Your Community
Food Bank of Central New York strives to engage partner agencies and community members in educational opportunities and projects supporting community food security.
Members of Food Bank of Central New York who do not have a garden, or would like to expand a current garden, have the opportunity to receive a garden grant award. In 2015 there will be up to 20 awards available. Each award includes $250 worth of reimbursement for either four cedar wood barrel containers or a cedar 4' x 8' rectangular raised bed, as well as plants and supplies. Award recipients are responsible for maintaining, sustaining, and growing the garden.
Grants will be awarded to partner agencies on a first come first served system. It is a rolling application process which means there is no deadline to apply. However please keep in mind that if you would like to install a garden for spring or summer, we will need to receive your application before the growing season begins.
Agencies will have to meet the criteria outlined in the application and provide all the information to receive the award. Applications are accepted year-round allowing for spring, summer, and fall garden installations - meaning food can be planted and grown throughout multiple seasons.
