A Cappella Against Hunger
Syracuse University Honor students are joining with a campus a cappella group to host a benefit concert for the Food Bank of Central New York.
A class project for the Renee Crown University Honors Program course, HNR 240: Food Stories, asked groups of students to raise awareness of a food issue both on and off campus. Five students from the class formed Group 4 Hunger Relief and have joined with Main Squeeze, one of Syracuse University’s own a cappella groups, to put “scholarship in action” and host A Cappella Against Hunger. Performances will include sets from Main Squeeze, Orange Appeal, Otto Tunes, Redemption and Ecotunes as well as brief discussions of hunger related issues and facts presented by Group 4 Hunger Relief.
This benefit concert will raise awareness of the hunger issue that exists in central New York and work to end it. It will also educate the campus and surrounding public on the work done by the Food Bank of CNY and how donations can make a difference.
The concert will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 7:30 P.M. in Hendricks Chapel, located on the SU campus. Advance tickets are on sale now at Schine Box Office for $4 with a student ID or $6 for the public. Tickets at the door will be $6. Sixty percent of all ticket sales will be donated directly to the Food Bank of CNY. Additional donations to the food bank are greatly appreciated and will be accepted at the event.
All students and members of the community are encouraged to attend to enjoy good music and support a great cause.
