First Annual Food For Families Event
On Friday, December 16, 2011, the first annual Food For Families event was held. This campaign, sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets, WSYR NewsChannel 9 and Clear Channel Radio’s B104 and Y94, is a collaboration to support the Food Bank of Central New York. Shoppers at Tops were able to purchase Little Brown Bags of Hope for $5, $10 and $20. Volunteers were stationed at the Tops Stores in Baldwinsville, Camillus, Fayetteville and North Syracuse to accept food and monetary donations from shoppers. The event resulted in thousands of pounds of food for the Food Bank and thousands of dollars to support our nutritious food distribution and nutrition education initiatives.
We would also like to thank VIP Structures and Go Minis – Storage on the Go for their support of Food For Families. Please see a video made by the volunteers from SRC and SRCtec about Food For Families.

Ed was downsized. His monthly food bill wasn’t.
Think you know what hunger looks like? Think again. These days, the face of hunger looks a lot like one of your friends or neighbors – victims of an economy that makes it hard for people to make ends meet. But you can help. Even the smallest donation helps us supply food to 273 emergency food programs in 11 counties throughout Central New York. So please: Help people like Ed. Chances are, he’d do the same for you.
Food Bank of Central New York would like to thank the fantastic staff at Eric Mower & Associates. Their creative minds produced our new advertising campaign. This new campaign helped us stress our message that the face of hunger in Central New York is changing – it’s not just the homeless – it’s the working poor, your neighbor who lost their job, your friends. Thank you for your support.
